CROSSROADS at SECRET GARDEN

I have been drafted in to make some seriously scary sculptures out of the dead. Yes, it's that time of year again:  My annual holiday to Secret Garden! The BEST festival I have ever been to in all my festival life- which is all my life.  This is the 3rd year I've had work with ' The Corssroads' , a voodoo themed blues venue and this promises to be the scariest yet. They'll be free standing horrors and wall mounted nonsense guaranteed to turn your stomach. Look out for it in the main Crossroads tent in the Crossroads field. Sorry there are no pictures but there will be when I return. In other news I am pissed off the Converse & Dazed emerging artist award closed their submission deadline early. I had a corker lined up but hey, their loss. I'll release 'One Night In Peckham' after I return seeing as I went to all the effort of actually writing a half decent explanation of the horror.  I also potentially have another D.I.Y Taxidermy LIVE lined up

Meow Meow

Over a year ago I found a dead cat on the road The original footage was stolen, this cat action was recorded on a camera phone and has only just come to light today. Inspired by the cat attached to the helicopter, I decided that the world was ready so I  finally got round to a remake.   MEOW MEOW   Out now on YouTube "One evening in May 2011 my mother and I were driving home. Suddenly I started to scream. To my amazement, surprise and despair, there by the side of the road appeared to be the most magnificent feline I had ever seen! Recently hit, the only obviously mark was to the head and a slightly bloodied tong, rigamortis was just setting in and his eyes hadn't gone cloudy yet. He was huge! Someone had obviously loved him very much. But what is the right thing to do?  I decided to write a note and say I buried it then quickly bundled the cat into the back of the car and we sped away. I had been dreaming of this moment for so long. I couldn

BORROWED TIME

BORROWED TIME                                                       Written and directed by Jules Bishop Theo Barklem-Biggs, Phil Davis, Warren Brown, Juliet Oldfield, Perry Benson Years ago I held a taxidermy workshop  in Dalston with the production crew of this film. We were making props for the  eccentric  main charter who lived on his own with his taxidermy animals. It has finally been  released  at  Edinburgh  Film Festival and the buzz around this film is  enormous . .... " Excellent movie, funny and sad, dark humour mixed with pathos. Will make you cry and belly laugh in the space of one scene. Great storyline with brilliant performances from main charters and supporting cast. Well worth a visit to the cinema and well worth the money you'll pay for the ticket. I hear Bafta nominations" "Wow what a movie, check out the Kevin geezer. If he dosent make you wanna cry and laught and give him a big hug and kiss on the smacker then you aint

Brighton Fashion Week and other interesting stories

Image
June 2nd at 2pm I will be spilling my guts at Brighton Fashion Week. How the hell does a normal person end up wanting to get to know the insides of an animal? Why on earth would anyone want to spend their time with rotting carcasses...? Well, I won't go that far but I will be explaining myself in no uncertain and terrifying terms.  I link to one of their designers- And if you didn't know, I am a designer myself; making head pieces and accessories out of the abandoned and useless, turning them into something beautiful and desired again. Mind Like Magpie 30th/31 I will be at The Lost Lectures entertaining and educating anyone who wants to have a stab at D.I.Y Taxidermy themselves. And here's a selection of pictures to keep you up to date with my studios continuos evolution.  Email charlietuesdaywinnergates@gmail.com and I will be happy to show you where the magic happens. Before anyone goes crazy about how cruel this is, these came from the butchers

Lost Lectures 30th/31st May

At the the upcoming  Lost Lectures  event I will be providing interactive interval entertainment with D.I.Y Taxidermy workshops. Giving you the tools and confidence to take life into your own hands, at home, with the things you have in your cupboards. A seemingly very light hearted approach to a very serious subject... Life is the most precious gift of all and shouldn't be needlessly wasted. All animals used for artwork have either died of natural causes, been rescued from gamery's, the side of the road or left to rot in stinking bins, all tossed away as if their lives meant nothing. Life is cheap and these beautiful creatures should mean more. This is by no means traditional taxidermy but a brief insite into the work and mind of an artist, a performance/demonstation that will have you re-examine your impact on what happens to life after death....
