Still Lives- Dublin Gallery X 17 Feb- 11 March

Image
Keep your eyes and minds open if you're visiting Dublin this March, as  Irelands first Rouge Taxidermy exhibition features  "three of Europe's most accomplished rogue taxidermists under one roof..." That means me. Ha. Press Release GalleryX is excited to present the first collective exhibition of rogue taxidermy art to be shown in Ireland. "Rogue taxidermy  is a term first used in 2004 to describe a fine art movement that creates mixed media sculptures using the traditional materials of taxidermy or referencing taxidermy and the preservation of bodies.  This exhibition will bring three of Europe's most accomplished rogue taxidermists under one roof for the first time, together with the work of two photographers whose practice is centred around the portraiture of and our relationship with dead animals. As an art form, rogue taxidermy has a strong ethical element, of celebration of the  lives  of animals. By only using found animal car

NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE. From R.I.P to R.S.V.P

Image
Once again on the brink of extinction, my newest artistic venture was under threat of being wiped out.  But in the last nail biting hour it has been brought back from the dead, and i’ll be egging out my reign of good fortune for 3 more glorious weeks at SPACE Gallery , 6 West Street- Bristol The completely self proclaimed ‘Shop Of Amazement had been Bristols best kept secret. This weird wonderland of art studio/gallery come all round overwhelming-window-shopping experience was a destination unknown to most, but all who stumbled across it were left both amazed and terrified amongst the art and fabulous fashion Super niche dose not do it justice. People genuinely came for their weird stuff.  This ledgend stopped by to see if I had a horn. He wanted one like his bothers. Apparenly they had massive ones and he felt left out...So I attached this to his mast, and now he's the most powerful man on four wheels  :D Just one exsample of how I’ve been tr

RIP SHOP OF AMAZEMENT - January blues sale

Image
Bristols best kept secret will be silenced by the end of the month…. I am closing my shop of amazement and art studio of wonder.  Sadly, a spontaneous water feature erupted from the ceiling and the leak has had devastating repercussions. So everything must go. My lifes’ work must be dispersed into the unknown.  It’s sad and it’s bad, but not a scratch on last year  when an utter shit storm blew full gale at  my life . After conceiving, creating and making the greatest cult musical that ever died , I started to sink quite spectacularly into in a whirling pit of despair. Cement had solidified my depression and the evaporated version of myself was trapped inside. I cried every day.   I always believed that when I turned 30, everything was going to be ok. 30 would mean I was a real person, that it would all fit into perfect place and harmony, and my life's work would be in full flow fruition.   Sadly the opposite happened.   Nothing was ok and everything was terrible. For

NEW SHOP

Image
There's a new shop that's opened in Stokes Croft- A shop so wonderfully fantabulously macabre and outrageously spectacular it will at some points, render you speechless.  Downstairs at The Vintage Market, hiding amongst the junk and the clutter, I have created a world of wonder and intrigue. A place where beauty and death come to life in surreal assemblage sculpture and wearable art. This amazing pop-up acts as a working studio, gallery and shop front.  Capturing the magical and the mystical, the absurd, the strange and the beautiful.  But there’s not much time to visit Stokes Crofts newest artist in residence. ... The formally squatted Old Motorcycle Showroom is currently finalising development plans. So,  for the next few months only, I will be bringing in a very unusual brand of art and fashion fiestas to the high street for a brief visual spectacle of aesthetic enlightenment. Come be delighted and excited by: ART  -  FIERCE FASHION-  TAX

Looking Foxy

Image
Everyone’s favourite cult fox is finally in print- wear him with pride as he features on these limited addition t-shirts. Foxys’ famous face is based on a taxidermy puppet character from the cult musical Sing For Your Life . Ultimately he was a facetious, self-centred arsehole….and that’s why   everyone loved him.   The show was like marmite on crack. The first and only musical to feature an entirely dead cast in a hard hitting political comedy about animals rights…..ironically using real dead animal puppets.  Sounds disgraceful doesn’t it. It was that and soooo much more. This one hit wonder won hearts, minds and amazingly awards at Vault Festival 2015 and Edinbrugh Fringe Festivals premier for comedy- The Underbelly, with it’s own unique brand of tasteless humour, setting the world to rights under the guise of brazen entertainment. The reviews were astounding. Ranging from the great and the holy - Church of England To foul mouthed graffiti from

EXHIBITION: Supernatual Fears Other Worldly Desires

The fabulous Edwardian Cloakroom/Toilet will be the host of my first exhibition in Bristol. It's been a looong time coming and I have some new work to show for it.  WOAH. After a large chunk of life being taken over by singing, dancing dead animals   spreading enlightenment and comic genius, I hit a shit storm of whirling  creative despair.  But now i'm  bouncing  back to doing what I do best- Making some really beautifully scary stuff. Dead Pretty Shamefully I haven't made an  official  piece of sculpture for over 2 years.  But after moving away and having no friends, I got my head down. Without all the hassle, noise and constant distractions, objects began talking to me again and I  accidentally  started making new work.  It all started with this guy He was just a lonely skull face, shoved in the corner watching over me for years. . .Then one day he started making noises. He started telling me he wanted a new face... and a crown.    Sometimes
